My award winning pitch at the RSM Business Fair

Since COVID, I saw my Dad be in zoom calls all day long. I could see the zoom fatigue in his body and eyes so I started thinking of an idea that will give relief to zoom participants. This was a big market since a lot of people started doing zoom meetings from home.

The Background

  • The post COVID era has increased the intensity and frequency of zoom meetings.
  • Health officials say videoconferencing and technology is over-taxing our brain and causing adverse health
  • People with Zoom fatigue have reported feeling anxious and stressed before a video call and feeling tired,
  • exhausted, or even having feelings of despair after the meeting.
  • Our brains must work harder on video calls to focus on the meeting topics and to read the verbal and
  • nonverbal cues that we normally see during in-person meetings.
  • Zoom fatigue negatively affect a person's physical and mental health and their ability to perform work effectively.

The problem statement

  • Too much eye contact: There is more direct face and eye contact. The focus is on your face and people look direct in your eyes. Face to face meetings have far less eye contact. The feeling of being constantly watched is taxing on your brain.
  • Straight Posture: Zoom etiquette demands that we are clearly visible throughout the meeting, requiring us to sit in a relatively fixed position for longer periods of time. In F2F meetings, you can change your posture as convenient, but you cannot do that in zoom.
  • Increased Cognitive Load: The amount of mental effort required to perform a task is called Cognitive load. Zoom leads to increased cognitive load because you don’t get to read others body language. You have to think harder and process faster.
  • Reduced Mobility: In zoom world, you are constantly in front of computer jumping from one meeting to the other. In F2F, you walk around to different offices and conference rooms that helps keep you physically active and alert.
  • No opportunity to socialize: It is very harder to develop relationships over zoom. Zoom is good for transactional business. F2F meeting usually have a social aspect which makes work fun and easy.

Our Solution

  • Integrated Massager Smart Desk(IMSD) with the following features
  • 1. Temperature controlled
  • 2. Six different massage types
  • 3. Steam action
  • 4. Water bubbler – hot and cold water

At the end of the presentation, the judge said "No Question. I will be the first one to buy"

Graphics Design Award

In November 2024, my class read The Insiders by Mark Oshiro. After we read the book, my teacher announced we had a project: redesigning the cover of the book. This was a really hard project because most of us had never used online design software. Then when we were done all of the school faculty voted for who had the best cover, and I won.

The Bestseller Award @RSM Business Fair

In November 2022, I attended the RSM business fair. I sold traditional-style homemade mango lassi. It was a really big hit, and everybody loved it. So many people drank it that I got the bestseller award.

2023 Award @ Royale Cricket Club

My sister and I won the best volunteer award from Royale Cricket Club (RCC). In summer 2023, we put a lemonade stand for the cricket team playing across from our house at Cherry Brook Field. The entire team appreciates the work done by my sister and I and they presented us with trophies to keep us motivated and thank us for the amazing work. The President of the club, Dr. Gagan Joshi is presenting the award to us. It adds to my trophy count.  The club has members from Weston, Wellesley, Newton, Cambridge, Boston, Wayland, Sudbury, Natick and Lexington.

Best Golf Player among 60 kids @ Sandy Burr Country Club

This is something I am really about. I attended 2 summer camps at Sandy Burr County Club. In the summer club we play golf and we go on the coarse multiple times. There were kids in the golf camp and at the end of the camp all the coaches voted for the best golf player based on the skills and they all chose me.

My Karate Trophy

I did karate for 4 years, and I am natural, literally, my cousin is a black belt. I have won many trophies in karate, but the one that stands out the most is my best karate fighter. The sensei would present a challenge in a class of over 50 students, and whoever could kick the most boards would win. When it was my turn, I wet up and smashed thorugh 5 boards, and won the trophy.
