In Fall 2024, I participated in a play "The Snow" at Beaver Country Day School. It is a story about how a village finds themselves covered in snow and how a young child finds a solution. I played a Canyon man and my main objective in the play was to get the main character and his mute friend across the Canyon while being chased by forest that wanted to kill them.

I am passionate about reading but that passion was developed over the years. Let me take you through my journey with reading. In kindergarten, I started with reading aloud. At that time, I remember that most kids in my class had started reading in their head. My kindergarten teacher was not that encouraging, saying that I would never be a good reader. As you can tell I got off to a really rocky start with reading but I didn't let that stop me from continuing to try to read. I admit that my mom really encouraged me and taught me to be persevere in reading. My mom loves reading and I started going with her to the Weston Public Library. I recall one week I read so much and made so much progress in reading that I think I read for about 7 hours and finished 25 books. My reading improved the most towards the beginning of second grade when I read the whole Magic Tree House series. In the summer of third grade, I signed up for my first summer reading program and read over 50 complex chapter books. This is also when I read the famously well-known series, Harry Potter. Around this time, I started reading many chapter book series and found my favorite author, Rick Riordan. I constantly kept reading more and more books authored by Rick. In the summer of fourth grade, I signed up for my second summer reading program. In the program, I read double the amount of books I read in the previous program and I completed all of the quests on the library’s online website which gives you raffle tickets. After that summer camp, I got into one of my greatest periods for reading. I was reading on average 3 books a day at home. This is when I really fell in love with reading. From that day to today, I visited my town’s library so much that all of the librarians decided it would just be easier to memorize my library card number:) I find reading very relaxing and I cannot fall asleep without reading for at least 1 hour or more. Till now, I have read between 5,000 to 7,000 books altogether. I plan to start a book club of close home and school friends passionate about reading.
Writing is my passion, and I like to write a lot during my free time. I have a long history of writing. In fact, it all started with me hating writing. So, I have known how to write since kindergarten, but back then, my handwriting was really big. So, I would write, only a few words would fit onto a page. Then, in first grade, I started to be able to write on lined paper, and my font/writing size decreased. But I am left-handed, and almost everybody else in my class was right-handed. That made me feel different, so for most of first grade, I tried writing using my right hand but that was very difficult and unnatural and made me hate writing. Then, in the second grade, I continued with my writing and started to learn how to type. I wasn't that good with writing or typing. In the third grade, I started writing multiple books with my friends in the hope of getting them published. This was about the time when I started loving writing. It is mainly because of my amazing teacher, Mr. Glode, who always encouraged me to write. Around this time, I started practicing my typing on a website my school gave. I remember one day; I spent 3 hours locked up in my room computer room typing a story on the website. In the fourth grade, I learned the basics of writing in cursive and started to type on the computer more. In the 5th grade, I memorized the format of the perfect essay. I also mastered many different writing forms like persuasive, informative, narrative, novel, memoir, and even poetry. One of the pieces from 5th grade that I still remember is a speech essay that I wrote about Messi's life. This speech was detailed and was over 20 pages long. Now, in the current 6th grade, even though the school year has just started, I have still done a lot of writing. I am the best writer in my humanities class and have written the best articles for my class newspaper. I am constantly praised by my writing teacher, and I am the most active member of my school newspaper. Writing thousand-word memoirs about my experiences. I feel that I have excelled in writing and hope to keep on doing it as a hobby because, as you can tell, I just find it very fun and calming.
